Estate Planning:

Wills | Trusts | Powers of Attorney | Living Wills

An estate plan is like insurance - it is an emergency preparedness plan for your life, your assets, and ultimately for death.

Heidi’s time in the Coast Guard instilled a dedicated to service of others and a strong belief in preparedness which she incorporated into her practice at Baxter Law.  Estate planning is more than just a Last Will and Testament.  It can include a will, a trust, a health care directive and power of attorney (sometimes called a “Living Will”), and a financial power of attorney.  Creating an estate plan allows for you to provide clear instructions on how you want your personal and financial matters handled in the unlikely event of death, disability or incapacity.

Baxter Law does not believe in cookie-cutter wills and focuses on each client’s specific circumstances, needs and desires with compassion.  Your plan will be tailored to you.

Do you have minor children?

Please consider making a will or trust to ensure that they are cared for in the way that you would want them to be cared for in the event of your death or incapacity.

Is your child turning 18?

Consider having your child meet with an attorney to prepare powers of attorney for financial and health care matters in case of incapacity.   This could save your family from the stress and expense of a guardianship/conservatorship in the event of injury, illness, or disability.

Planning to travel without your minor children?

Consider a specific power of attorney for your minor children designating an agent to make decisions for them while you are gone.
